Sophora japonica, also known as Japanese sophora, Japanese pagoda tree, or Chinese scholar tree (Styphnolobium japonicum syn. Sophora japonica) is in the pea family, Fabaceae. It is a deciduous tree with fragrant, creamy white flowers in late summer. It is primarily used in traditional Chinese medicine for dizziness, blood pressure, headache, internal bleeding, and hemorrhoids.

The American Botanical Council (ABC) is passionate about helping people live healthier lives through the responsible use of herbs and medicinal plants.
